Organic Sencha

Sencha is Japan's most beloved, healthy tea, accounting for about 80% of tea production in Japan. Unlike other teas of the world, traditional production of Japanese Sencha begins with steaming fresh tea leaves during the same day of the harvest to prevent oxidation. This process retains its golden-green color and fresh flavor. Then, it goes through several rubbing processes to make each leaf a long thin shape. This brings out a grassy note and "Umami" [savory] tea leaf taste. It is also well known that Catechins, a type of anti-oxidant, are most abundant in Sencha compared to other kinds of teas.

A cup of our Sencha is a great start for the day by waking up your body and spirit by a light sweetness with moderate bitterness.

Organic Hojicha

Hojicha, roasted green tea made of tea leaves from the late harvest season, is a staple Japanese tea for daily meals at home. The traditional production of our Hojicha begins with steaming fresh tea leaves during the same day of the harvest to prevent oxidation and goes through several rubbing processes to make each leaf a long thin shape, which ensures the rich flavor and taste of tea leaves. Then, the leaves are carefully roasted at around 200oC. This roasting process reduces the bitterness of the tea, while giving it a nutty, relaxing aroma and transparent amber color. Our soothing Hojicha tea is low in caffeine and recommended for all generations to enjoy as an after-meal tea to refresh the palate and stomach -or as night time tea.

Our tea comes exclusively from Mukojima Estate

Located in a quiet mountain in Shizuoka, the most famous tea place in Japan, is the family-based Mukojima estate. Mukojima has been dedicated to a unique, natural stressfree type of cultivation of organic tea for more than 20 years. Typically, tea plants are densely planted for better yield;

Mukojima grows tea plants with adequate space around them so they can thrive naturally -by receiving enough sunlight and soil nutrition. Resulting from this cultivation process, the stems become bigger and roots grow 3 to 4 meters long. It is said these "stress-free" tea plants tend to be resilient to pests and possess more self healing power.
